About the event
A morning retreat of deep self care.
Taking a positive approach to managing some of the experiences women encounter from about the early 40s and into our 60s, this session focuses on excess heat in the body and mind, including hot flushes, nightitme heat and expereinces of stress. You do not need to have experienced all of those symtoms for this session to be of benifit to you, or to know much about yoga.
The morning is centered around a specifically designed therapeutic style of yoga that helps women manage the transition from early 40s (or earlier in some medical situations). Often medically termed as stages of pre-menopause to perimenopause to menopause, this is as big a part of a woman's life as starting her period, managing fertility, being pregnant or becoming a parent. These life moments can bring huge changes and we should feel informed and equipped to manage.
This session will be a positive and empowering morning giving you information, techniques, and tools to help cool and soothe body and mind. The approach incorporates Western medical science and Eastern wellbeing to create a holistic guide. We will talk about our symptoms, including the experience of excess heat and how stress can make symptoms worse. The morning includes:
- A short overview of why we experience excess heat and how you can manage flushes and sweating as you expereince it day-to-day
- Time for you to re-charge - a hugely important part of managing hormone changes and life stresses
- A blend of western medical science, such as HRT and hormone changes and, Eastern wellbeing, looking at Indian Ayurveda and Chinese Traditional Medicine
- Sharing together with other women
- Some information about vitamins, nutrition and natural remedies
- A deeply releasing and soothing yoga practice to release heat from the body and soothe stress
- Time to reflect, journal, think and be still.
The session is suitable for all levels, including beginners.
We have everything you will need at the studio but please feel free to bring your own mat or blanket if you wish to.
To prepare for this series of workshops Fran attended Menopause Yoga Teacher Training – a gold standard training course for yoga teachers designed by Petra Coveny and accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance Professionals.
